About Us

German Shepherd Dog

 Confident, Courageous, Smart, Protective, Loyal

German Shepherds are working dogs that have lots of energy.  They require space to run and exercise.  Training is a must for this breed and their brains must be kept busy.  They are very smart and if they get bored they will create their own fun.  It will probably not be a fun that you will enjoy cleaning up.

Socialization is very important with this breed.  German Shepherds were bred to be protective and getting them out around other humans and animals will help prevent them from being reactive.  This is a very loyal breed and with the proper training and handling, they make the best companions in the world.

If you are considering this breed for your family please do your research.  If you do not have the time, willingness to exercise and train them, or space to do so please consider another breed.

  Willow

Hello everyone, I am Willow

I am a female and my birthdate is May 20, 2019.  I am a full blooded German Shepherd Dog and I have a beautiful long coat.  It's my Princess fur.  I am what is called an outcross German Shepherd.  That means one of my relatives was a show line and one was a working line GSD.  In my case, my grandpa was a working line and my grandma was a show line.   That made my mom an outcross therefore I am an outcross.  This is sometimes done to tone down the working line drive.  My mom says it didn't work in my case. 😉

Us German Shepherds sometimes get a bad wrap because we are bred to protect what is our whether it is territory or humans.  I am here to show you that most of us, if trained and handled correctly, are very fun loving pups.  I actually love people and like to pet them.  Mom lets me know if it's okay first though.  She says it's very important to know if the human wants to be petted and if we are in a safe environment for me.  She also watches my body langue before she lets people pet me.

I don't eat a whole lot unless mom makes me eat because I am a very busy girl.  You will find out through reading my stories that I am a Princess and I have very important Princess duties to take care of.  I would rather do my work than eat.  My mom insists that I take breaks and eat my meals.  I guess all moms are like that.

I love playing frisbee and stick.  I absolutely love going on adventures in our creek and through our woods.  I can run through the woods and creek all day long and never take a break.  That is the working line drive.

I had an older sister named Sammi but she got sick and crossed the Rainbow Bridge to play with moms other GSD pup Dexter.

And that's when it all happened...

 Sage

 Hi there,  I am Sage

I am a male and my birthdate is September 28, 2020.  I am a full-blooded show line German Shepherd Dog.  I too am a long coat like my sister.  My fur is not Princess fur though. 😁  My sister says I am a Prince but I think I am a noble Knight.  You will read about that in one of our stories.

I am just a puppy so there is no need to be afraid of me.

Unlike my big sister, I love to eat.  There is nothing I would prefer nothing more except maybe playing keep-away with my sister's frisbee.  I love ALL even vegetables.  My absolute favorites are sweet peppers, celery, carrots, bananas, oranges, eggs, chicken, sardines, spinach, lettuce, hamburger, grapefruit....

My sister loves to play frisbee and stick but I love to play keep-away with her frisbee and stick.  She get so mad at me but it's just so much fun.  In fact, the madder she gets the more fun it is 🤣

I also like to cuddle with her.  She doesn't really like to cuddle a whole lot but she lets me and that's how I know she truly loves me.

I love toys!  I have so many toys and I play with them all of the time.  I have chew toys, thrasher toys, and plush toys.  I love my plush toys so much.  I roll around with them in my mouth and act all silly.  Mom calls me her silly boy.  My sister and I don't tear up toys because we are good puppies.  My favorite toy is my bark box Beer Bottle.  It's getting a little tattered as it belonged to my nieces before it was mine.  Mom is afraid I will be very sad when it is finally to tattered for me to play with.  She has not been able to find a new one.  I think I will be okay and who knows maybe I will find one I like better.

I really love my big sister and I am very happy that mom and dad brought us together.  I call her fluffy butt and she calls me wonky ears.  Please don't tell mom though because we got into really big trouble for calling each other names.

When I grow up I want to be big and strong just like my sister Willow

Willow & Sage

Willow and Sage are Long Coat German Shepherds from Schlossfelsen Kennels in Western Nebraska.  They both have incredible temperaments.

Willow came into my life during a time when I was grieving hard for another young German Shepherd named Dexter.  I reached out for breeder information from the owner of another GSD that I follow.  I contacted the breeder and she had a really small girl that needed a home.  I watched the videos that she sent of this small pup and I knew she was exactly what I needed.  It was very scary but she needed me as much as I needed her.  She was my meant to be puppy and she filled a huge hole in my heart.

Willow is a small girl but she has a huge personality.

Sage came into our lives after our 13 year old German Shepherd, Sammi, crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  We got on our breeders waiting list for a female and we were not due to get a pup until summer.  This little guy came up as available and we decided we would bring him into our family.

I soon realized that he was born the day before my precious Sammi had left us.  Once again we had a meant to be puppy.

We call Willow and Sage brother and sister but Willow is actually Sage's Aunt.  Sage is Willow's half sisters son and Willow's dad is Sage's grandpa.

The night before we left to pick Sage up I gave Willow a bath for the trip.  She had a pouty look on her face and I took a picture.  I posted it on Facebook with a silly little story, from her point of view, of her going to get a baby brother.

And this is how it all began...

About Me

I am blessed to be loved by two German Shepherds

Hi...

I am Missy.  I am Willow and Sage's mom.  I grew up having a deep love for the German Shepherd breed.  Okay, actually it is an obsession, but it's a good obsession unless you ask my husband.  😉 I have had seven German Shepherds in my lifetime.  Four of those I raised from puppies.  Willow and Sage are the only long coats I have had.

I spent most of my life as a homemaker raising my kids and then sitting for my grandson.  Now that my kids are grown and my grandson is in school my German Shepherds are my kids.

I have a woodworking shop and I like to spend time there creating and refinishing furniture.  It is a very relaxing hobby.  I have other small hobbies but none I like as much as the woodworking.

We own 10 acres of wooded ground with creek frontage which is absolutely perfect for the dogs.  We love taking them on creek adventures.  They are so much fun to watch while the are exploring and just being dogs.

I never intended on writing stories about the dogs but Willow has a very unique personality and the stories just unfold as I watch her.  After we posted the first story people began to reach out and ask me to please let Willow keep writing her stories.  It seems they bring happiness to people.  So here we are and as long as Willow keeps telling me the stories I will keep publishing them.  Sage has even put his two paws in 🥰
